What is personal training?
The Armory and Indoor Range Personal Training session is a chance for you (or you and a friend or spouse) to spend some quality time with one of our professional staff members. Because this is your class, you tell us what you would like to work on. Many of our customers who are new to shooting and firearms prefer to cover firearm safety and the basics of shooting. Other experienced customers ask us to work with them on increasing their shooting accuracy or proficiency.
What can I expect?
Personal Training sessions usually last about an hour. You can expect to spend fifteen to twenty minutes in the classroom (no ammunition) going over the topics and concepts you would like help with. For newer shooters this time is usually spent covering the four rules of firearm safety and fundamentals of shooting a modern firearm including grip, stance, trigger control, sight alignment, etc.).
Do I get to shoot?
Once you have finished in the classroom, you and the instructor will put on safety gear and head to the live fire range to practice what you learned in the classroom. The instructor will work with you one-on-one to help build good safe shooting techniques and increase your shooting and handling proficiency.
What if I don't have a firearm?
The Armory and Indoor Range has a full selection of rental firearms available for classes. Calibers include .22 LR, .380 ACP, .38 Spl., 9mm, 40 S&W, .45 ACP, etc. For new or newer shooters we recommend starting on the .22 LR platform. In our opinion this is the best training platform to help build good habits and positive shooting experiences.
While the .22 LR is a great training platform it is not widely considered a reliable defensive caliber by the shooting community. If your goal for learning to shoot a firearm is for personal protection, we recommend you eventually work your way up to more of a defensive caliber (i.e. 380 ACP or larger).
